Sublative® Rejuvenation FAQs

1. What is Sublative® Rejuvenation?

Sublative® skin resurfacing is a skin-rejuvenation treatment that delivers bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energy to the skin via a matrix—a grid of 64 electrodes—in a disposable applicator tip.

2. How does Sublative® Rejuvenation work?

Unlike traditional fraxel lasers, ablation (removal) of soft tissue and resurfacing of the skin using elos Plus RF allows for deeper penetration into the skin, affecting the underlying areas rather than removing more surface skin and damaging the top level in the process.

During treatment, the special single use tip is attached to the applicator on our Syneron elos Plus platform. It delivers bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energy to the skin via a matrix—a grid of 64 electrodes. As a result, the targeted skin is injured and the surrounding skin is untouched, which allows it to aid in healing the injured skin. During the healing process, new collagen is produced, reducing wrinkles, skin laxity, textural irregularities, and scarring.

3. Is Sublative® Rejuvenation safe?

The short answer is “yes.” Bi-polar radio frequency energy has been used safely for many years in skin-rejuvenation treatments.

4. What type of training do technicians undergo?

Our technicians at Electra Laser are Medical Estheticians. In addition, they have received training and certification specific to Sublative® Rejuvenation. Although B.C. has no regulations in place governing technicians who work in medi-spas, we require our technicians to be fully trained and certified. All of our technicians have a minimum of two years’ training.

5. Am I a good candidate for Sublative® Rejuvenation?

Because Sublative® Rejuvenation is safe for most skin types, it is a good option for most clients. During your consultation, you and your technician will determine whether it is the best skin-rejuvenation treatment for you.

6. Which areas of the body can you treat using Sublative® Rejuvenation?

Most clients choose to have Sublative® elos Plus RF treatments on their faces. However, some also have treatments on their necks and chests. The lips cannot be treated using Sublative® Rejuvenation.

7. How much time do I need for a Sublative® Rejuvenation treatment?

Because each client is unique, the time required for a Sublative® Rejuvenation treatment may vary. On average, treatments usually last for 50-60 minutes.

8. How many treatments will I need to achieve optimal results?

Again, this will depend on your skin type and the issues you are hoping to resolve with Sublative® Rejuvenation. We recommend a minimum of three to five treatments, allowing four to six weeks between each treatment. Sublative® Rejuvenation can also be combined with other skin-rejuvenation treatments over time, such as Venus Freeze™, HydraFacial, IPL Photofacial, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels.

9. How long do the results of Sublative® Rejuvenation last?

As with all skin-rejuvenation treatments, long-term results will vary depending on the individual, the number of treatments, and the conditions being treated. Full results are usually experienced anywhere from three to six months following your last treatment. Maintenance treatments may be required over time. Most clients choose to undergo maintenance treatments every six to 12 months.

10. What are the possible short-term side-effects of Sublative® Rejuvenation?

After a Sublative® Rejuvenation treatment, it is not uncommon to have some redness and swelling in the treated area. It should begin to improve after about three days. Your technician will provide you with products to apply to your skin, which will help with the healing process.

After approximately one to three days, small pinpoint crusts will appear in treatment areas where the elos Plus RF tip contacted your skin. Not to worry! They will exfoliate naturally and if you wish, you can cover them up with makeup.

11. Am I required to have a consultation?

Yes. Please call Electra Laser at 604-255-2737 to book your consultation with one of our certified Sublative® Rejuvenation technicians prior to scheduling any treatments. This is for your own protection and we cannot make exceptions.

During your consultation, we will give you an opportunity to experience the process. We will also address any concerns you might have at this time. You are responsible for informing your technician of any medications or natural health products you are taking, and of any underlying medical conditions you have. These are critical details that we must consider when customizing your Sublative® Rejuvenation treatments.

We encourage you to ask all of your questions during your consultation so that we can address your concerns prior to beginning your treatment. It is important to us that you are well informed before you begin treatments, and that you feel comfortable with our clinic and your technician.

*We require a credit card number or a debit/credit non-refundable deposit of $75 to reserve the time for your consultation. Because the applicator tips used in this treatment are costly, your deposit is used to offset our cost. However, we will apply your deposit to future treatments.
