Laser hair removal is a safe, effective alternative to the time consuming and often painful process of removing unwanted hair. Our exceptional staff are professionally trained Medical Estheticians and Technicians, certified in the use of all our medical-grade, CSA-approved laser hair removal equipment.

There are no guarantees in laser hair reduction. There are clinical studies showing improvement of up to 80–90% but that every patient will respond with this amount of efficacy. Results vary from patient to patient.

We offer laser hair-removal treatments using the Cynosure Elite™ Dual Platform Laser. This revolutionary technology combines two optimal laser wavelengths in one system: the 755-nm Alexandrite laser and the 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser. The 755-nm wavelength has high melanin absorption characteristics and proven long-term results for permanent hair reduction. The high-powered 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser is the safest wavelength for permanent hair reduction on darker skin types and tanned skin. The wavelengths on our laser hair removal can also be switched during a single procedure, allowing for the use of the most appropriate laser for any given hair or skin type. Combined with the Cynosure Smart Cool® Advanced Dermal Therapeutic Cooling System, the Cynosure Elite™ removes unwanted hair with unsurpassed efficiency and client comfort. The Smart Cool® provides a continuous flow of chilled air before, during, and after your laser hair-removal treatment, while protecting the tissue and skin from thermal damage. Ultimately, this results in a much more comfortable hair-removal experience for you, our client.

FAQs

Do I require a Consultation?

Yes, all new clients to Electra Laser require a consultation and test patch, prior to commencing treatment. Our consultation is complimentary and will provide you with a full understanding of the Laser Hair Removal process. During your consultation your technician will perform a small test patch on your skin. You can begin treatments as soon as 24 hours after your test patch.

What type of Laser do you use for Hair Removal?

We use the Cynosure Elite dual platform medical grade laser. This technology combines to optimal laser wavelengths in one system: the 755nm Alexandrite laser and the 1064nm Nd:YAG Laser. The Alexandrite wavelength has high melanin absorption characteristics and proven long term results. The high powered Nd:YAG is the safest wavelength for darker skin types. The wavelength can also be switched during a single procedure, allowing for the use of the most appropriate laser for any given hair or skin type. The Cynosure Elite laser is safe for all skin types.

How Effective Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal eliminates at least 80% of hair growth. Instead of only removing the hair – as with shaving or waxing – the laser heats up the hair follicles, rendering them inactive and unable to grow hair. To understand why you need multiple sessions, let’s explore how your hair growth works.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal uses technology in which a beam of light is applied to unwanted hair on various parts of the body. This light is a specific wavelength that targets the melanin—the pigment in the hair that gives it colour—in the hair follicle. When the light enters the follicle, it is converted to heat energy that inactivates the follicle, preventing the hair from growing again.

There are three stages of hair growth. They are: Anagen—active growth; Catagen—a brief phase in which growth stops and resting begins, and Telogen—a resting phase in which no further growth occurs. In order for laser treatments to be effective, hair must be in the active growth stage—Anagen. Because individual hairs are at different stages of growth at any given time, multiple laser treatments are required to target all of them when they are in the Anagen stage.

How Long Do the Laser Hair Removal Effects Last?

Laser hair removal is permanent. However, hormonal changes can cause hair growth in places where it wasn’t previously growing. Also, there may be some hair that was not in the Anagen phase when any of the treatments were done causing it to grow back.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most areas require six-to-ten treatments. Ideally, they should be four to six weeks apart. However, depending upon your skin tone, and hair colour and density, this may vary. Your technician will be able to provide you with a more precise estimate during your consultation.

How To Prepare Before Laser Hair Removal?
  • Please shave the area to be treated 12-24 prior to the treatment.
  • Do not apply any lotions, creams or makeup on the area to be treated.
  • Do not wax or tweeze the area to be treated.
  • No tanning 4 weeks prior to treatment

During your complimentary your technician will provide detailed information on pre and post care procedures.
